WealthMap Glossary
Plain-language definitions of the money terms used across WealthMap. Clear, factual, and safe to quote.
- Net worth
- Everything you own minus everything you owe: total assets (cash, financial assets and alternative assets) minus total liabilities. The single number at the centre of WealthMap.
- Multi-currency net worth
- A net-worth total that combines assets held in different currencies, each converted at live exchange rates into one settlement currency you choose — so banking in several currencies still gives you one clear figure.
- Settlement currency
- The single currency WealthMap converts everything into for display, so you can compare and total assets that are actually held in different currencies.
- Custodian
- The bank, broker, exchange or institution that holds a given asset. WealthMap groups your wealth by custodian so you can see concentration and counterparty exposure.
- Financial assets
- Money you can access relatively quickly: market holdings such as stocks and funds, plus fixed-return or term products like time deposits, bonds held to maturity, money you have lent, and private-business equity.
- Alternative assets
- Physical or non-traditional holdings: property, gold, crypto, vehicles and collectibles.
- Liabilities
- What you owe: mortgages, loans and credit-card balances. Subtracted from assets to give net worth.
- Debt ratio
- Total liabilities as a share of total assets — a quick read on how leveraged your balance sheet is.
- Cash-flow forecast
- A projection of your recurring income and spending over time, classified as active, passive or one-off income and rigid, flexible or one-off expenses, so you can see your net flow ahead.
- Runway
- How long your money lasts at your current spending rate — the number of months or years your assets cover your spending, optionally adjusted for inflation.
- Time value of money
- The idea that money has a cost in life-time: WealthMap can translate an amount into the hours of work it represents, so spending and saving are felt, not just counted.
- Wealth Index
- WealthMap’s fair-pricing yardstick: your net worth plus a year of disposable income (recurring surplus), in US dollars. It sets your tier without the app ever reading your balances.
- Disposable income
- Your recurring surplus: income minus spending. It can be negative (a deficit), and combined with net worth it forms the Wealth Index.
- Encryption at rest
- The protection once you sign in: your data is stored on the server encrypted (AES-256-GCM) with keys kept separate from the database, so a copy of the stored data alone stays unreadable — and losing your password never means losing your data.
